This simple, family run hotel, located in
the historical centre of Panicale provides good, clean,
economical and comfortable accommodation. It is the ideal
choice for people looking for a short stay or an overnight
stop over. This is the perfect location to explore the area
where Umbria, Tuscany and the Lake Trasimeno meet, experiencing
a town offering artistic and architectonic treasures from
the renaissance and the middle ages, an excellent choice
of restaurants, bars, and activities.
The rooms of the Masolino Hotel are functional
rather than beautiful, but true to the philosophy of every
Italian household, are scrupulously clean. They all have
on-suite bathrooms and are furnished with double beds, wardrobe
and chest of draws for your clothes. Each room is further
equipped with a television. Many of the rooms have views
over the roof tops of Panicale and the Lake Trasimeno valley.
For those of you who are travelling in a
small group or perhaps with children there are also two
wings on the top floor. The left wing has two bedrooms a
double and one single, the right wing three rooms, one double
and two singles. Of course both wings have their own bathroom
and toilet facilities. Being at the top of the house, you
do have a bit of a climb before you can go to bed. So your
children and possibly you too will be ready to sleep when
you get there!
Downstairs near the entrance is a communal
area where guests can sit and read or plan their next day's
excursion. Equipped with tables, couches and a TV, it features
beautiful vaulted red brick ceilings. You can otherwise
relax in the back garden, soaking up the sun and enjoying
the peace and quiet. The building dates from the 1500s,
and many of its original features have been restored to
their former glory. Parking is available free of charge
right outside the hotel.
The Belfico family take great pride in their
work. They started a small bar in the mid 1950s, expanding
to a restaurant and later adding the hotel. They are known
to give their guests a warm friendly welcome, and take excellent
care of them. Their restaurant is a regular stop for gourmet
lovers, and reviews of it have appeared in the international
press. Their rates are very reasonable, and hard to match,
especially for the half and full board prices.
Breakfast is not served in the Hotel, and
not included in the room only price. The town, however,
offers a choice of bars, cafes, a bakery, and several grocery
stores. Breakfast is included with the half and full board
options. Meals are served in their nearby bar and restaurant,
located at a 3 minute walk from the hotel.
