Scaletta in Italian means a small flight
of stairs… And obviously refers your daily exercise
(needed to burn all the calories taken on from those ten-course
Italian meals) taken whenever you enter or leave this apartment.
The stairs, found on the western side of the house, lead
to a small balcony on which you can have your meals or just
read a book. It overlooks the sunflower fields and the Montepulciano
Lake.
The main door leads you straight into the
spacious and welcoming living room, divided in two by a
red brick arch. The side closest to the entrance is the
living room area, complete with chairs, bed sofa, and a
fireplace. The other side is the kitchen area, equipped
with a 4-hub stove, fridge and sink. If you miss the oven,
ask at check in. They will lend you an electrical one. Your
ten course meals can be eaten on the solid wood dining table,
and invite guests, as it comfortably sits six. If the guests
are boring, you can still stare out of the window and enjoy
the sun setting over the lake.
The master bedroom is accesses from the kitchen.
It is furnished with a hand cast iron double bed and a wardrobe.
It still has the original 1777 red brick floors, and a little
window probably used to create a draft for the chimney (The
art of chimney making is still considered black magic, and
draws with it lots of superstition). The larger window overlooks
the fields and the trees.
The little hall, accessed from the living
room gives access to the bathroom, fully tiled and equipped
with a shower. It also leads to the second bedroom, in which
two single beds have been placed. Clothes can be placed
in an armoir. The window faces north, and overlooks the
sunflower fields. In this bedroom, there is a second door,
usually kept locked. It gives access to the Loggiato apartment,
joining the two together when groups of six to ten people
are travelling together. Just like the other apartments,
it has its own independent water heater and thermostats
in the rooms control the central heating.
